While I store my RV Trailer at home and can get away with a less expensive level of security, I can definitely see how this would be great to have if you lived in a big city, and/or had to store your rig on the street or in a storage yard where you couldn't keep an eye on things. Solid trailer lock with very little exposed gap
I had been using a cheaper coupler lock before, and this one feels like a real step up. The first thing I noticed was the weight. It is heavy, solid, and doesn’t feel like some thin stamped metal piece. I put it on my utility trailer in the driveway last weekend, mainly because it sits outside a lot and I wanted something that would make it a pain to mess with. Setup was easy. The ball insert goes into the coupler, the outer shell fits over it, and the lock snaps in without any tools. Took maybe a minute the first time. The snug fit is the main reason I like it. There is very little open space around the coupler, so it would be harder to get pry tools in there. The lock cylinder has worked smoothly so far, and the keys feel a little more secure than the usual basic flat keys. The red coating is also bright enough that it is obvious from a distance, which honestly helps as a deterrent. One small thing, there is a little bit of play in the insert once everything is on. Not enough to bother me, but worth knowing. This is not magic theft proof security, but for the price it adds a serious layer of protection for a trailer, boat, or camper. That makes 5 stars for me.

Really solid tongue lock
I hate to admit, bit this coupler lock is seemingly as good as my proven brand lock. I use a 2″ proven industries on my 16ft enclosed trailer. This Vehiclex seems to be of very similar quality. It weighs about 10lbd with the lock. Large enough to hold my chain ends as well as the 2-5/16 tongue well on my 20ft car hauler. Easy and quick to install. The puck lock isn’t as good of quality as Proven. Puck locks are cheap to replace though. I greased the keyhole and pins with graphite to be sure it won’t have issues seizing up. Pretty decent deal and a good theft detergent. Works well to make them take an easier trailer.

Well made trailer coupler lock for 2-5/16" hitch balls.
Security is vitally important for most trailer owners, especially those who have sizable investments in travel and heavy hauling rigs. I’ve been looking for a coupler lock for my 12k hydraulic dump trailer and was intrigued by the Vehiclex lock offered through Amazon Vine. The lock arrived in good shape in a double thick cardboard container–a good shipping choice given the thing’s weight. The overall design and manufacture was impressive, and the lock mechanism worked smoothly. In particular, I liked how the keyway is located under the lock body which should help keep it dry and free of corrosion. Mounting the lock is easy, too, since the hitch latch holds the ball section in place while you fit the lock body in place. The puck lock slid into place and locked smoothly. Does the Vehiclex lock have any downsides? Despite the manufacturer’s claim, the lock doesn’t fit as snugly as I’d hoped. That may simply be due to my hitch design (which is one of those shown as compatible on the product page). In any case, the lock body tips forward about 20 degrees, potentially making it vulnerable to a heavy hammer or crow bar. That’s not a deal-breaker since virtually any lock can be broken or removed by thieves with the right tools and motivation. But it’s the main reason I gave the lock 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, the Vehiclex 2-5/16-Inch Trailer Coupler Lock is a well made, competitively priced product. Recommended.

The Ball goes on the trailer, the cover goes around the ball, completely covering it and preventing it from coming out, and the lock. You can even use your own lock. The lock seems like a decent lock. It’s a barrel style with a curved key. Comes with three keys and locks very well. Its easy to install and functions perfectly. Being that there is plenty of metal around the entire thing, cutting it off would take a long time and not ideal for a thief. I know there are easy ways to drill out locks but this has a strong base that will help prevent it from getting undone in a short amount of time. Overall, amazing quality, and well worth the investment if you have a trailer you want to secure.

This coupler lock is a robust 2026 security essential for anyone hauling heavy trailers, RVs, or boat trailers with a 2-5/16-inch ball setup. I have found that standard “universal” locks often leave too much gap between the lock and the coupler, giving thieves enough room to use bolt cutters or pry bars. The “Smart Geometry” of this Vehiclex model is designed to minimize that space, creating a snug fit that makes it nearly impossible to get a tool inside to leverage the lock open.

This is a great 2-5/16 inch trailer coupler lock. Heavy duty and actually pretty to look at. Rounded shape so slick, with red cover in the middle that’s beautiful. Double layer coating is durable and rust resistant. Locks very secure and stable. Includeds 3 keys with plastic cover top so feels more comfortable to use. This trailer coupler lock is everything we are looking for so very impressed. Price is excellent for this size of trailer coupler lock. Great deal for a great lock.

I Really Hate Leaving Reviews. –
If you’re running a 2-5/16 inch trailer coupler and actually care about protecting your boat, equipment, or cargo, this lock is a no brainer. Installation takes zero tools. Seriously. It is on in a couple of minutes and fits snugly with no awkward adjustments or guesswork. The smart geometry design really hugs the coupler in a way that leaves very little exposed. Compared to other locks I’ve used, this one feels intentionally engineered to eliminate leverage points and make tampering extremely difficult. I’ve had other coupler locks removed before, so I’m not easily impressed. This one feels different. The heavy carbon steel construction gives it real weight and confidence, and the dual layer coating not only looks sharp in red, it adds durability against the elements. It looks serious, and honestly I think the bold design alone could deter someone looking for an easy target. It is sturdy, well built, and thoughtfully designed. Great Deal on A Solid Coupler Lock
If you are looking for a Trailer Coupler lock this is a great Lock. It is a solid lock all the way around. You don’t have to worry about a silicone boot getting old and dry rotted, because of its top design. The lock secures like it would normally on a trailer hitch ball, because it has a solid ball that goes into the hitch not just a slot. What I think would be better is if they had a slot for the insert to line up with so that the lock itself didn’t have so much play. Outside of that I think it’s a solid lock and will take a lot of effort and loud tools to get into. In summary, I think it’s a great deterrent and a good deal.

Since I got a travel trailer which I park it on street, I needed this lock which perfect fits on 2 inch hitch. As described, it comes with 2 keys and easy to lock and unlock. Moreover, the materials they made with it’s anti rust and super durable, so it’s hard to break.

A Low Cost Piece of Mind - Great Value - Highly Recommended
A few years ago: For the first time ever I had a situation with one of our trailers in a far away location where someone was caught trying to steal it and all the equipment on it. We had never had this type of issue before and after that I started adding protective measures. These VehicleX locks have become my favorite and we have been adding them to all our trailers. These locks fit correctly, are STOUT and heavy duty with a proper lock that has yet to fail us, even on the oldest lock. They are easy to install and easy to remove. This trailer lock is a great option for a standard deterrent to eliminate thieves of opportunity from taking advantage of your trailer being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have a few of them from this company and they are well built solid steel, easy to employ and prevent causal theft for a low price. That makes them a good value for the cost right out of the gate. I don’t think they would stop someone from stealing a trailer if they have time and the right tools but it will definitely make your trailer and undesirable target. Security is vitally important for most trailer owners, especially those who have sizable investments in travel and heavy hauling rigs. I’ve been looking for a coupler lock for my 12k hydraulic dump trailer and was intrigued by the Vehiclex lock offered through Amazon Vine. The lock arrived in good shape in a double thick cardboard container–a good shipping choice given the thing’s weight. The overall design and manufacture was impressive, and the lock mechanism worked smoothly. In particular, I liked how the keyway is located under the lock body which should help keep it dry and free of corrosion. Mounting the lock is easy, too, since the hitch latch holds the ball section in place while you fit the lock body in place. The puck lock slid into place and locked smoothly. Does the Vehiclex lock have any downsides? Despite the manufacturer’s claim, the lock doesn’t fit as snugly as I’d hoped. That may simply be due to my hitch design (which is one of those shown as compatible on the product page). In any case, the lock body tips forward about 20 degrees, potentially making it vulnerable to a heavy hammer or crow bar. That’s not a deal-breaker since virtually any lock can be broken or removed by thieves with the right tools and motivation. But it’s the main reason I gave the lock 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, the Vehiclex 2-5/16-Inch Trailer Coupler Lock is a well made, competitively priced product. Recommended.

Really solid tongue lock
I hate to admit, bit this coupler lock is seemingly as good as my proven brand lock. I use a 2″ proven industries on my 16ft enclosed trailer. This Vehiclex seems to be of very similar quality. It weighs about 10lbd with the lock. Large enough to hold my chain ends as well as the 2-5/16 tongue well on my 20ft car hauler. Easy and quick to install. The puck lock isn’t as good of quality as Proven. Puck locks are cheap to replace though. I greased the keyhole and pins with graphite to be sure it won’t have issues seizing up. Pretty decent deal and a good theft detergent. Works well to make them take an easier trailer.

Solid trailer lock with very little exposed gap
I had been using a cheaper coupler lock before, and this one feels like a real step up. The first thing I noticed was the weight. It is heavy, solid, and doesn’t feel like some thin stamped metal piece. I put it on my utility trailer in the driveway last weekend, mainly because it sits outside a lot and I wanted something that would make it a pain to mess with. Setup was easy. The ball insert goes into the coupler, the outer shell fits over it, and the lock snaps in without any tools. Took maybe a minute the first time. The snug fit is the main reason I like it. There is very little open space around the coupler, so it would be harder to get pry tools in there. The lock cylinder has worked smoothly so far, and the keys feel a little more secure than the usual basic flat keys. The red coating is also bright enough that it is obvious from a distance, which honestly helps as a deterrent. One small thing, there is a little bit of play in the insert once everything is on. Not enough to bother me, but worth knowing. This is not magic theft proof security, but for the price it adds a serious layer of protection for a trailer, boat, or camper. That makes 5 stars for me.

This is a very heavy duty lock. It fits a 2- 5/16″ perfectly. Its initially three pieces. The Ball goes on the trailer, the cover goes around the ball, completely covering it and preventing it from coming out, and the lock. You can even use your own lock. The lock seems like a decent lock. It’s a barrel style with a curved key. Comes with three keys and locks very well. Its easy to install and functions perfectly. Being that there is plenty of metal around the entire thing, cutting it off would take a long time and not ideal for a thief. I know there are easy ways to drill out locks but this has a strong base that will help prevent it from getting undone in a short amount of time. Overall, amazing quality, and well worth the investment if you have a trailer you want to secure.
